Period Drama Hero Tournament Poll

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Since a lot of readers made a lot of nominations for The Period Drama Hero Tournament, I decided to take all those nominations for the last three spots and put them into a poll. You can vote for multiple characters. The poll will last for about a week, and the top three choices will be added to the list of heroes

Plans Being Made for Hero Tournament! Some Questions for you... Banner Page... And a new poll!

Monday, April 11, 2011

Okay, I kind of combined this post into one big mega-post...

I'm currently in the process of making plans for the Hero Tournament. There are going to be more contestants in this tournament than the last one. If anyone would like to nominate someone to be a contestant, I will try to fit them in. I want to keep it less than 50. I have 40 picked out so far, so there are 10 spots available.

Also, I was thinking of adding in a new feature into the tournament: somewhere there will be a bonus poll where you could bring back a contestant (or more than one, I'll have to see how it would work) into the running. What would you think of that?

If you would like to answer these questions, leave a comment!

I also added a banner page for all the banners that I made and put up. I have a list of links at the bottom of the page for other blogs that you can find my banners on. If you added a banner of mine onto your blog and you don't see a link to your blog there, tell me so I can add it.

Oh! There is also a new poll up! Sorry I took so long to post a new regular poll: I had a hard time trying to think one up, but now I have one! The new question is: "What Period Drama TV Series do you like to watch?"

Update: Only 7 spots remain for nominations for the Hero Tournament.

Update: Only 6 spots remain for nominations for the Hero Tournament.

Update 4/12: 5 more to go!

Update 4/13: 4 more!

Update 4/13: 3 more!

Regular Polls closed!

Sunday, April 3, 2011

Sorry it took a while to post this, but the regular polls are now closed. There were two polls: here are the results:

To the question "What is your favorite adaptation of Pride and Prejudice?"
76% (114 votes) said the 1995 Miniseries (Jennifer Ehle),
20% (30 votes) said the 2005 Movie (Keria Knightley),
The 1940's Movie (Greer Garson) and the 1981 Miniseries (Elizabeth Garvie) were tied at 1% (2 votes apiece),
and 0%* (1 vote) for another version.

To the question "What are some of your favorite adaptation/novel authors of classic literature?" with multiple choices being allowed:
81% (94 votes) said Jane Austen,
40% (56 votes) said Elizabeth Gaskell,
39% (46 votes) said Charles Dickens,
32% (38 votes) said The Bronte Sisters,
25% (30 votes) said Shakespeare,
12% (14 votes) said another author,
7% (9 votes) said George Eliot,
and 4% (5 votes) said Anthony Trollope.

Thank you everyone for voting! I'll try to have another poll up tommorow.
* Real percentage: .67%

Poll Closed!

Sunday, January 23, 2011

The poll is now closed. Thank you everyone for voting! Here are the results!

To the question "What is your favorite Jane Austen novel?", 32 voters answered (and could pick more than one):

Pride and Prejudice with 23 votes (71%)
Persuasion with 10 votes (31%)
Sense and Sensibility and Emma tied with 9 votes (28% apiece)
Northanger Abbey with 8 votes (25%)
Mansfield Park with 5 votes (15%)
Juvenilia with 1 vote (3%)

Pride and Prejudice is the winner! I have two polls up now: one about Pride and Prejudice, the other a random topic.

The Pride and Prejudice poll question is "Which adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is your favorite?" You will be able to pick from the 1940 movie (Greer Garson), 1981 miniseries (Elizabeth Garvie), 1995 miniseries (Jennifer Ehle), 2005 movie (Keira Knightly), or another version. For this poll, you can only choose one option.

The random topic question is "What are some of your favorite adaptation/novel authors of classic literature?" You will be able to chose from more than one out of the following: Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Gaskell, the Bronte sisters, Anthony Trollope, George Eliot, Shakespeare, and an other option.

Thank you again for voting! Feel free to vote in both polls! Voting for both of these polls will be open from now until April 2nd.

Poll Closed and Update

Monday, November 1, 2010

Hello,

I hope all is well with you all. I'm combining this post as an update and an announcement about the poll.

First on the agenda, the poll. The poll at the side is now closed. To the question "Which is your favorite historical fashion period?":

50% of voters said the Regency Era
30% said the Victorian Era
Tied with 10% was the Gregorian Era and Modern Era

No one voted for the Renaissance or earlier or the early 1900s. Thank you everyone for voting! I'll put up a new poll very soon. If you wish to see the graph, I will also leave that up for a little while.

Now for the update. I'm still continuing to work on reviews each week. They'll mostly be posted on Monday or Tuesday (though I will try for Monday most of the time). I have quite a bit of period dramas to review, but I'm also continuing to watch new ones (which I will eventually review).

I am also working on a new sewing project: a dress to wear to a formal event. Hopefully all will go well with it with the least amount of mistakes possible.

Also, remember to suggest your friends or anyone that might be interested in my blog. I would really appreciate it.

Until next time!
